Atomic Bomb

War-ending technology developed by the Americans during the Second World War. Dropped on Berlin on December 21, 1944, killing Masterman and Maximan.

Biorhythm

Pseudoscientific notion developed by Wilhelm Fliess in the 19th Century, and popularised in the 1970s. Biorhythm adherents contend that one’s abilities wax and wane in accordance with physical (23 days), emotional (28 days), and intellectual (31 days) cycles. Zenith claims his powers vary in accordance with these biorhythms, vanishing entirely at the lowest point of his negative phase.

Cloud 9

A group of superhumans, active in the 1960s. Included Mandala, Voltage, White Heat, Dr Beat, Spook, Lux, and Red Dragon.

Doctor Beat

A superhuman, also known as McDowell, last name unrevealed. A member of Cloud 9. Zenith’s father.

Ruby Fox

Ruby Fox. A former member of Cloud 9 and model, known as Voltage. Editor of Femme magazine.

Martin Howe

Freelance journalist and author of Flying High, a biography of Cloud 9.

Many-Angled Ones

Entities existing in a higher mathematical dimension, sometimes referred to as ’Overspace’. Also known as the Dark Gods, the Great Old Ones, or the Lloigor.

Lux

A superhuman, also known as David Cambridge. A member of Cloud 9.

Mandala

A superhuman, also known as Peter St John. A member of Cloud 9.

Masterman

The first superhuman to become active on Earth. Fought alongside Nazi Germany in the Second World War. Claimed to be one of the Many-Angled Ones. Killed by the atomic bomb.

Maximan

William Whitlock. Converted into the second superhuman using the Masterman serum, brought to England by defecting German scientists. Sent into Germany to fight and kill Masterman. Killed by the atomic bomb.

Zenith’s agent.

Red Dragon

A superhuman, also known as Siadwel Rhys. A member of Cloud 9.

Spook

A superhuman, also known as Penelope Moon. A member of Cloud 9.

Superhuman

Strictly speaking, every being with powers beyond the reach of a normal human is a superhuman, regardless of origin. Usually, the superhuman achieves their powers through use of the Masterman serum, by receiving prenatal treatments derived from that serum, or being born to superhuman parents who received that treatment.

A superhuman, also known as Ruby Fox. A member of Cloud 9 and model. Electrokinetic.

White Heat

A superhuman, also known as Jenny Ridgeway. A member of Cloud 9. Zenith’s mother. Pyrokinetic.

Zenith

The alias and brand of Robert McDowell. By Phase I of Zenith, the youngest superhuman. The star of the comic.
